Published Apr. 29, 2015 11:29 p.m. ET

The Houston Texans bolstered their depth at safety on the eve of the NFL draft with the signing of free-agent Stevie Brown on Wednesday, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The 27-year-old Brown started eight games for the New York Giants last season, making 38 tackles. He missed the entire 2013 season while recovering from ACL surgery.

A former seventh-round draft choice of the Oakland Raiders, Brown has also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers over the course of his career. His best season was 2012, when he intercepted eight passes for the Giants.
