Steelers vs. Jets Fantasy outlook

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Steelers are Three and One after a rollercoaster couple of weeks.

The Steelers sit at 3-1 after an abysmal showing in Philadelphia then a brilliant one at home against the Chiefs. The “Killer B’s” are back and the return of Le’Veon Bell did not disappoint. Like last year, it is more than fair to say you are starting Bell and Antonio Brown every week, and therefore we will no longer include them in the weekly list. They are permanent MUSTS.

The offense was humming last week to the tune of five Roethlisberger touchdowns. With the Jets coming into town, the potential is definitely there to do it again. The Jets have the 26th ranked pass defense, while Pittsburgh is 30th. Fantasy owners should be licking their chops. Sometimes, though, the outcome proves to be far different in these situations, and we could see a physical more defensive battle.

MUST STARTS: Brandon Marshall, Steelers DST

Eric Decker is out of the game with a partial tear to his rotator cuff. He is listed as week to week going forward, which favors Brandon Marshall and his number of targets. The Steelers defense is giving up a lot of yards through the air, but finally turned out some splash plays last weekend. Fitzpatrick has thrown 10 interceptions this year, and I think the defense will get one or two potentially in this game, especially if they can take the early lead.

MIGHT STARTS: Sammie Coates, Jesse James

I had said last week that Sammie Coates is due for a touchdown and is a good play due to his long receptions. His targets are going up and he caught six balls last week. This week he gets his touchdown.

James got in the end zone last week and is more a tight end you are keeping as a reserve, but the Jets have been giving up a lot of fantasy points to tight ends, and James could be a good play at home, especially if the jets put pressure on Ben Roethlisberger.

 MISSES: Matt Forte

The Steelers are 4th against the run in the NFL. Despite all of their defensive uncertainties, they are usually able to tune into all-purpose type backs like Forte and keep them under control.

The tam needs to keep winning to keep up with the Broncos, and Patriots in the standings.
