Staley's return pushed back again

Published Dec. 17, 2009 6:42 a.m. ET

San Francisco left tackle Joe Staley is on the inactive list for Monday night's game against Arizona, pushing his return to the 49ers' lineup back at least another week.

Staley has not played since spraining his right knee during San Francisco's loss at Indianapolis on Nov. 1. He was hopeful of playing against Arizona after practicing this week and was on the field at Candlestick Park warming up prior to the game with the Cardinals but the 49ers coaching staff decided to hold him out again.

Wide receiver Isaac Bruce, cornerbacks Nate Clements and Marcus Hudson, linebacker Diyral Briggs, defensive tackle Baraka Atikins, center Cody Wallace and quarterback Nate Davis are also on San Francisco's inactive list.

Linebacker Reggie Walker, cornerback Greg Toler, linebacker Will Davis, tight end Stephen Spach, wide receiver Jerheme Urban, offensive linemen Herman Johnson and Brandon Keith and quarterback Brian St. Pierre are on Arizona's inactive list.
