Shannon Sharpe: Teams will start to retaliate against Richard Sherman

Published Dec. 15, 2016 12:10 p.m. ET

Seattle Seahawks star Richard Sherman came under fire for a controversial hit on Bills kicker Dan Carpenter (which came after Sherman had clearly jumped offsides) earlier this season, and on Sunday in a loss to the Packers, Sherman leveled wide receiver Davante Adams with a cheap shot from behind. Sherman initially defended the hit on Twitter in a conversation with longtime Packer Jermichael Finley, but later deleted the post.

On Thursday's episode of Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe warned Sherman could become a target for other teams looking to protect their skill players.

“If you do this to me or one of my guys, I got to get you back. And I know the NFL doesn’t like this, but I am 1,000 percent into retribution, because I need to send a message to everybody else…. because, see, what’s going to happen, if you get physical with Davante Adams, this is what he’ll do.

I need to send a message, because see your fate is already determined. I’m going to get you back, but I need to send a message to other teams that’s gonna be watching this tape. If you think you can get away with this… think again, because retribution will be swift and harsh.”
