Rex Ryan: Patriots were 'clearly trying to embarrass us'

Aside from a 40-32 loss to the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills have undoubtedly looked like a contender in the AFC East. They dominated both the Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins, which has Rex Ryan and the team feeling good.

While Ryan may not be over the loss to the Patriots yet, he is happy with the way his team handled the loss -- particularly late in the game.

"Our emotions got the better of us but I loved how we battled back when a team was clearly trying to embarrass us," Ryan said on Wednesday.

The Patriots have been known to run up the score in blowouts, but there was good reason for them to do so in this one. The Bills certainly made it a game, pulling within eight points of New England.

Had the Patriots sat on the ball and tried to run out the clock, they may not have scored enough points to edge out the high-powered Bills offense. But even with the loss, the Bills responded and dropped 41 points on the Dolphins in Week 3. Few teams are playing as well as Buffalo right now and Ryan has the team headed in the right direction.
