Report: Eagles' Maclin to undergo tests

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has left the team's training camp to undergo additional testing on a mystery illness that continues to keep him sidelined, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Thursday.

Maclin has been sent to his hometown of St. Louis, Mo., for further testing on the illness that has reportedly troubled the 23-year-old wideout for several months.

According to The Inquirer, Maclin said in April he had lost 15 pounds a month while suffering from "mono-like" symptoms, but said in May the weight was all back.

Maclin, the Eagles top draft choice in 2009, reported five days late to Eagles camp in Bethlehem, Penn. The late arrival was excused, according to head coach Andy Reid, but he has not practiced since joining his teammates.

Last week, Maclin shunned rumors that his condition could be career-threatening, saying, "those crazy reports aren't true."

The two-time All-American at Missouri led Philadelphia with 10 receiving touchdowns in 2010. He ranked second on the team with 964 receiving yards.

The Eagles will be without their downfield threat for their first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.
