Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore's season quite possibly over

Baltimore Ravens tight end Crockett Gillmore may be joining the team's lengthy list of players on season-ending injured reserve.

Gillmore has been dealing with a back injury he suffered two weeks ago against Miami, and he apparently had a setback this week after sitting out the loss against Seattle last Sunday.

“It’s not working out,” head coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday per the team's official website. “His back flared up again. He also has the [sore] shoulder. It’s not looking good for Crockett right now.”

Harbaugh added that Gillmore could potentially be a candidate for injured reserve unless he has an unexpected recovery.

"Maybe he’ll come back tomorrow and I’ll hear, ‘Crockett’s feeling great and he’ll be out there Sunday.'"

Gillmore would be the Ravens' 19th player to land on injured reserve, tying a franchise record reached twice during the Harbaugh regime (2008, 2014). Quarterback Joe Flacco, running back Justin Forsett, receiver Steve Smith Sr. and linebacker Terrell Suggs are among the big names on the shelf already.

Gillmore has been one of the few bright spots for the Ravens offense in his first year as a starter. He has 33 catches for 412 yards and four touchdowns. Rookie second-round pick Maxx Williams will likely get the start in place of Gillmore this Sunday against Kansas City. Fellow rookie Nick Boyle was suspended last week for the remaining four games of the season due to a violation of the league's performance enhancing drugs policy.
