Patriots re-sign TE Michael Hoomanawanui

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) The New England Patriots have re-signed tight end Michael Hoomanawanui.
He became their primary tight end last season when Rob Gronkowski was limited to seven games by injuries and after Aaron Hernandez was arrested on a murder charge. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty.
The 25-year-old Hoomanawanui was primarily a blocker and caught 12 passes for 136 yards and one touchdown. In the Patriots' two postseason games, he had three receptions for 39 yards.
The Patriots released defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga and offensive lineman Markus Zusevics. Sopoaga played six games for the Patriots after being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles last Oct. 29. The 10-year veteran started two games. Zusevics spent last season on injured reserve after being hurt in training camp.
