The New England Patriots have claimed running back Thomas Clayton on waivers from the Cleveland Browns.

Thursday's move came one day after Clayton was released by the Browns after playing in two games with them.

Clayton was with the Patriots in training camp after signing on June 11. He was released on Sept. 4 then signed to Cleveland's practice squad 10 days later. The Patriots then signed him to their 53-player roster on Sept. 30 but released him on Oct. 23. The Browns then re-signed him on Oct. 26.

Clayton was drafted by San Francisco in the sixth round out of Kansas State in 2007 and spent the first two years on the 49ers' practice squad and last season on injured reserve.
