Packers hold at least one edge on Redskins with experience

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) With two straight losses to finish the regular season, the Green Bay Packers have at least one distinct advantage in their wild-card matchup this weekend against Washington.

The seasoned Packers are postseason mainstays. They have 212 games of playoff experience on their roster compared to the 76 for Washington, according to STATS.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that his veterans counsel younger players all the time, postseason or not. He says they understand what it takes to get to the Super Bowl, though the focus is squarely just on beating Washington.

The Redskins will be making just their fifth playoff appearance since 1993. They lost a wild-card game to Seattle in their last appearance three seasons ago.
