The Minnesota Vikings helped finalize the NFL's first week of regular-season games, as they took on the San Francisco 49ers for a late Monday night game at Levi's Stadium. The Vikings were beat on the road, 20-3, in an embarrassing display of ineptitude on national television.

The decisive loss had Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer wondering about his team's preparedness after the game, according to a Tweet by VikingUpdate.com.

All spring and summer, the Vikings have been hyped as one of the NFL's rising teams. Yet star running back Adrian Peterson rushed only 10 times for 31 yards, and up-and-coming quarterback Teddy Bridgewater couldn't find the end zone. Worst of all, Minnesota's defense had no answer for 49ers running back Carlos Hyde, who racked up 168 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.

The Vikings don't look like contenders just yet, as many fans adjust their expectations after Monday night's eye-opening experience.
