Miami Dolphins claim DL Nick Williams off waivers

With the placement of safety Rashad Jones on IR, Miami had an open spot on the 53-man roster. They decided to fill that spot by claiming defensive lineman Nick Williams off waivers.
Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 7th round of the 2013 draft, Williams has spent the last three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. In 21 career games he has amassed 9 tackles all in a backup capacity.
What this means
At 6’5″ and 309 lbs, this appears to be a move to bolster the interior defensive line. Although Jordan Phillips played an important role in last Sunday’s win, Miami still lacks production and depth at the DT position.
With Earl Mitchell still out due to injury, and James Jones making little impact on defense, expect to see Williams added to the DT rotation as early as this week versus a tough Buffalo offensive line.
