Lions-Saints game now on Sunday night

Published Nov. 21, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

The Lions and Saints are moving to prime time. And the NFL is switching networks that televise a different game the same day.

The Dec. 4 game between Detroit and New Orleans will be played on ''Sunday Night Football'' on NBC. The Colts-Patriots matchup was originally in that slot, but the NFL previously announced it was shifting that matchup to earlier in the day under the league's flexible scheduling policy.

Indianapolis is 0-10 without injured quarterback Peyton Manning, robbing the matchup with Tom Brady and the Patriots of its luster.

On Monday, the NFL said the meeting between the two NFC playoff contenders would take its place. Detroit is 7-3 heading into its Thanksgiving meeting with Green Bay. New Orleans also is 7-3 and coming off a bye.

Also in Week 13, Ravens-Browns moves to 4:05 p.m. EST, while Broncos-Vikings shifts to 1 p.m. on FOX.

The NFL can use flex scheduling to ensure meaningful matchups Sunday night starting in Week 10.
