Jerry Rice expects big things from Niners, Kaepernick

Jerry Rice may be in the minority, but he expects the San Francisco 49ers to have a bounce back year.

Coming off an 8-8 season that saw the 49ers fire their head coach, lose three key guys to retirement and lose other starters in free agency, Rice believes the 49ers can still be competitive in the tough NFC West.

“Even though we’ve got a new head coach, I think that team is going to rally somehow because last season they had about five guys to really step away from the team,” said Rice, via ESPN.

Rice expects a much improved Colin Kaepernick this season. There have been nothing but rave reviews coming from 49ers camp about the much improved Kaepernick. After working with Kurt Warner this offseason, Rice and many others are starting to believe Kaepernick can be the franchise QB the Niners envisioned when they signed him to his long-term contract.

“I think the Niners, they’re going to come out, they’re going to represent the Bay Area the right way," Rice said. "But I’m really expecting great things from Colin Kaepernick.”
