Gruden: Jordan Reed out for remainder of offseason program
The list that breaks down Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed's injury history reads more like a grocery list. Last season, Reed missed games with a hamstring injury that also hampered his play when he was on the field. In 2013, Reed missed the final six games with a concussion after missing an earlier game with a quad contusion. Before that, he missed time in OTA’s with knee and quad injuries and in training camp with a mid-foot sprain. His injury history dates back to his college days with the Florida Gators as well. Now, with team offseason training ready to start, Reed is once again injured.
Last week when the Redskins opened up OTAs, Reed was held out because he was bothered by a knee issue. Reed was then checked out by team doctors in response to his knee soreness. It turns out that Reed will need a lot more time before returning to the practice field.
According to Chris Russell of ESPN 980, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden admitted Monday that Reed has a procedure on his knee that will keep him out for the rest of the team's offseason program.
If all goes well, Reed should be back when the team opens training camp. In the mean time, he will lose valuable snaps to talented young tight end Niles Paul.
