'Fishing with the Falcons' teams up players with military members

The Atlanta Falcons took some time away from the practice field to hang out with a few military members and do some fishing on Lake Lanier, according to Andrew Hirsh of AtlantaFalcons.com.

"Now in its eighth year, Fishing with the Falcons offers our military veterans a chance to spend time with players — past and present — on Lake Lanier. After several productive hours out on the water, everyone convened for a cookout, where awards were given for the biggest catch, smallest catch and largest haul." explained Hirsh.

The players who took part in this year's event included Jacob Tamme, Patrick DiMarco, Joe Hawley, Malliciah Goodman, coaches Dan Quinn and Terry Robiskie, as well as former players Brian Finneran, Rod Coleman, Jerious Norwood, Dave Archer and Michael Haynes. The Falcons Cheerleaders were also out to take part in the fun.

One Falcon who is an Army veteran himself, Collin Mooney, also was out enjoying the fun.

“I had a lot of fun,” Mooney told AtlantaFalcons.com. “It’s always great to be out there enjoying time with veterans and getting to know them and giving back to them."

“It’s always special when you’re able to give back in some small way,” Mooney added. “Veterans have given a lot, sacrificed a lot. Any way you can show a small amount of appreciation, it goes a lot way. It means a lot to me to be able to do that and put a smile on someone’s face.”
