Dickerson joins players suing NFL
Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson became the biggest name to sue the NFL over concussion-related issues Monday.
Dickerson, the single-season rushing leader with 2,105 yards in 1984, filed a lawsuit along with 15 retired players in Houston, alleging the league did not do enough to prevent the long-term effects of head trauma, according to Paul Anderson, an attorney who follows concussion litigation.
It is alleged in the suit that the players suffered migraine headaches, sleeping problems and hearing and memory loss, NFL.com reported.
Among the other players involved in the suit were Pro Bowl running back Hoyle Granger, 68, and the deceased estate of Hall of Famer Ernie Stautner.
Anderson said there are now 80 concussion-related lawsuits filed against the NFL, representing more than 2,200 former players.
Dickerson, 51, spent 11 seasons in the NFL with the Rams, Colts, Raiders and Falcons, rushing for 13,259 yards.
He led the league in rushing four times before retiring in 1993.
