Cowherd: NFL teams without coaches are crazy not to go after Nick Saban
With multiple head coach openings in the NFL (and more likely to come this week) you will hear many of the same names being bandied about as possible replacements for vacancies.
But if you ask Colin Cowherd, there's only one coach who is worth courting and a big pay day.
"NFL teams (that fire their coaches) ... if they don't all offer Nick Saban 9 or 10 million dollars, those owners are drunk," he said on 'The Herd' on Monday.
"You're going to run coaches out (of town like) Jim Harbaugh for Jim Tomsula?" Cowherd asked incredulously. "We've seen Pete Carroll, we've seen Jim Harbaugh, win big from college, and you're not going to give Nick Saban 9 or 10 million dollars?"
Cowherd even said that like in baseball, where the WAR stat measures wins above replacement, there should be an NFL stat called WBS -- wins below Saban.
Cowherd also feels that Saban is a "master manipulator and absolutely knows business," so even if he doesn't go to the NFL, you can expect to hear his name come up -- and Alabama give him a raise.
