Chip Kelly calls Philadelphia radio station host to say nice things
It would be understandable if Chip Kelly were a bit angry about his current situation.
Kelly was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles as head coach earlier this week before his completion of his third season with the team.
So when he called WIP's Philadelphia morning show radio host Angelo Cataldi privately after losing his job, Cataldi expected to be chewed out a bit.
Cataldi spoke with Kelly every week, talking about whatever was going on in the Eagles' football world. Then, after the coach was fired, Cataldi led a four-hour show during which he and others ripped Kelly and his people skills.
But when Kelly spoke with Cataldi, it was the total opposite.
“It was the most gracious conversation I could ever remember having with anyone I ever talked about or dealt with in sports in my life,” Cataldi said, according to Philly.com's Rob Tornoe. “He could not have been nicer. He was very philosophical about what happened to him, very confident of his future, and I couldn’t believe it.”
Here's more on Cataldi's conversation with Kelly.
