Chargers, Raiders re-commit to joint Los Angeles relocation plan
The San Diego Chargers won't head to Los Angeles without the Oakland Raiders, and vice versa.
The two AFC West rivals remain committed to their plan in Carson, Calif., according to letters to the NFL's Los Angeles relocation committee obtained by the New York Times.
Chargers owner Dean Spanos, via the New York Times: "Nothing... gives me any reason to reconsider my partnership with Mark Davis and our chosen stadium site. I firmly believe that the proposal we have jointly made is in the best interests of the entire league and is in complete compliance with the league’s relocation policies.”
Raiders owner Mark Davis submitted a similar letter to the six-member committee.
Both statements buck the widely-held notion that either team would bail on its partnership for a pact with St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke. Kroenke recently offered to share his Inglewood, Calif. stadium with either the Chargers or Raiders, if built.
Neither team wants to go down that road, apparently. They'll stay away from Kroenke's plan and stick to their own in Los Angeles.
