Broncos rookie CB Webster has broken thumb
Another week, another injury for Denver's dwindling secondary.
This time, its rookie cornerback Kayvon Webster, who fractured his right thumb in the Broncos' 27-20 loss to San Diego on Thursday night.
Webster was scheduled for surgery Friday.
He might miss a game and will have to play with a cumbersome cast for several weeks afterward, much like Denver linebacker Von Miller did two years ago.
The Broncos are hopeful that cornerback Champ Bailey, who has missed 11 of 14 games with a nagging left foot injury, will return for their next game against Houston on Dec. 22.
Denver (11-3) leads New England (10-3) in the race for home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs. The Patriots can overtake them with a win at Miami on Sunday.
