A's balk at shared Oakland-area Coliseum site with Raiders

Oakland's pro baseball team doesn't want to shack up with its football team again.

Then again, the Oakland A's might be playing in a baseball-only stadium in the very near future after balking at the city's Coliseum City plans.

Those plans, outlined by billionaire Floyd Kephart, would've pitted the Raiders and A's in brand new facilities in Oakland. But A's co-owner Lew Wolff told the Contra Costa Times that his baseball team won't be joining the Silver and Black's efforts.

"We have thoroughly investigated things," Wolff said. "And there is no good way to put two brand-new venues at the Coliseum site. If the Raiders are going to be there, then I don't know what will happen. We'll have to sit down with (baseball commissioner) Rob (Manfred) and see what to do."

Kephart's plan outlined room for not two but three professional sports teams at the new site. Now, he'll be left to pitch only the Golden State Warriors, who plan on moving to San Francisco at the moment.

"I don't want this fellow (Kephart) telling the A's what to do," Wolff said. "We have no desire to compete with the Raiders for PSLs (personal seat licenses) and sponsors. We just don't see that."
