SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (21)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 19) - A sharp left turn for the powder blue, as two good football men are let go.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 21) - The next coach needs to get the best out of Philip Rivers.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 20)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 19) - Saw this coming, GM and Norv never on the same page when it came to personnel.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 22) - The Norv Turner-A.J. Smith is done after another season of disappointment. Don't expect an immediate turnaround from the next coach-GM combo. Still plenty of holes on the roster and plenty of questions about Philip Rivers.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 22) - Philip Rivers is regressing as a quarterback and the Chargers are regressing as a team. That double negative cost coach Norv Turner and GM A.J. Smith their jobs this week.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 20) - There's Philip Rivers, a young and improved defense and year-round golf at Torrey Pines. Let the roll call begin for head-coaching auditions.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 21) - How could a team with Philip Rivers and Norv Turner finish 31st on offense?

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 20) - Philip Rivers is not ready for the scrap heap. He needs a better offensive line and running game. The defense is solid against the run. It will be tough for this team to close the gap on the Broncos overnight.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 22) - A new GM and coach will be present with the Charger's in 2013. Can Philip Rivers get back to where he once was? That is as or more important to the Chargers new brass moving forward.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 22) - Three straight years without a playoff appearance was too much for ousted head coach Norv Turner and A.J. Smith to overcome.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 21) - A.J. Smith and Norv Turner had some good moments in San Diego. They just didn't have enough of them lately.
