Adrian Peterson wins third NFL rushing title at age 30
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson didn't need to play in the season finale to win the 2015 NFL rushing title. Still, he added 67 yards to his season total against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.
Peterson finished the season with a league-leading 1,485 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
This is Peterson's third time leading the league in rushing yards in his nine-year career, making him one of eight players in NFL history with at least three rushing titles. He has a long way to go to catch Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown, who won eight in nine seasons.
Peterson is also the third player to win a rushing title at age 30 or older. The other two were Marion Motley, who won in 1950 with 810 yards, and Curtis Martin, who won in 2004 with 1,697 yards. Motley and Martin both have busts in the Hall of Fame with Brown.
The 2015 season marked the third highest yardage output of Peterson's career. His first rushing title came in 2008, when he rushed 1,760 yards. He followed that up with a career-high 2,097 yards in 2012. In total, All Day has eclipsed 1,000 yards in seven different seasons.
