Aaron Hernandez sent to segregated unit after homemade knife discovered in his cell

Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez has frequently been in the news since his April sentencing to life in prison for first-degree murder, from being placed on suicide watch to involvement in three separate prison fights to tattoos to flirty responses to pen pals, but his latest headline might be the most notable one yet.

Cheryl Fiandaca of Boston NBC affiliate WHDH reported Friday that Hernandez has been sent to a segregated unit following the discovery of a homemade knife in his cell.

Hernandez certainly is finding ways to stay in the news even from behind bars, and he's not done yet. Already sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Odin Lloyd, he’s also awaiting trial on two more murder charges. That trial is set to begin in January.
