MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad will have season-ending surgery on the middle finger on his left hand, the latest serious injury the team has suffered this season.

The Timberwolves announced on Saturday Muhammad will have surgery on a ruptured ligament in his finger. It happened on Wednesday when his finger was caught in Andrew Wiggins' jersey during practice.

It's the latest in a long line of injuries for the Wolves, who were finally getting fully healthy after missing starters Ricky Rubio, Kevin Martin and Nikola Pekovic for much of the season.

Muhammad was becoming a key player in his second season. He averaged 13.5 points per game after only 3.9 as a rookie.

The Wolves also will miss Anthony Bennett for the next two weeks with an injured right ankle.
