Will Greg Smith be back with the Mavericks?

Dallas Mavericks backup big man Greg Smith never received much playing time last season. Smith only appeared in 42 games, and averaged just 8.6 minutes a contest.
Smith, 24, will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Given the shaky center situation with starter Tyson Chandler also a free agent, could the Mavs hang on to Smith?
Here's more from Tim MacMahon at ESPN.com:
"It’d be a surprise if Smith’s stay in Dallas doesn’t end this summer. He might have to head overseas or to the D-League to continue his career.
Smith is only 24, but he hasn’t shown the potential to merit the Mavs investing more time in him. They’d rather fill that roster spot with a better developmental prospect or a veteran more prepared to contribute if called upon."
