Wiig brings 'Jordan' to 'Late Night'

Published Jul. 16, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Monday night proved to be a great evening for sports-related content on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Early in the show, the comedian enlisted Mets pitcher and National League All-Star starter Matt Harvey to interview hilariously oblivious baseball fans on the streets of New York City about ... Matt Harvey:

Fallon followed Harvey's antics with a so-called "exclusive" interview with basketball legend "Michael Jordan" played to perfection by Kristen Wiig, who donned a knock-off Jordan jersey, Air Jordans, baggy jeans and a loosely-secured skullcap for the gag:

Fallon and "Jordan" also took part in a duet at the end of the interview:

Matt Harvey's delivery during his "man on the street" segment was perfect, and the on-point comedic rapport between Fallon and Wiig turned what could have been an awkward, unfunny segment into a hysterical viral sensation.

This wasn't Fallon's first foray into humorous sports gags. Previously, the Late Night host tackled the NFL Draft and Stanley Cup Finals and with bits as funny as these, we'd probably want him on at 11:35 p.m., too.
