Why Wesley Matthews would fit in great on the Boston Celtics

Wesley Matthews was on his way to a max contract (or something close to it) this summer before he blew out his Achilles tendon in early March.

But he's still an unrestricted free agent, still looking for a payday. And the Boston Celtics are one team that should be willing to add him. Here's more, courtesy of Rant Sports' Evan Massey:

"His ability to stretch the floor and knock down three-point shots at will would be a dangerous weapon to give to Stevens. Boston had quite a few open three-point attempts in their playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers that simply wouldn’t go down, but Matthews would give them the type of shooter to make those big shots. There is no denying his offensive talent, and it would fit the needs that Boston currently has."

Matthews was one of the league's most lethal three-point threats before his injury. He could also defend multiple positions and gave Portland the versatility they needed. But the fact remains that nobody knows how he'll look upon returning to the court.

He's still only 28 years old, but who knows how much the injury will negatively affect his overall play. Boston is one team that will certainly be willing to risk it, but the price must be right.
