Which frontcourt duos are Boston's best?
The Boston Celtics have a crowded frontcourt, with some pieces that fit better than others. David Lee, Tyler Zeller, Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk, Jared Sullinger and Jonas Jerebko are all vying for minutes, but which duos are better than others?
Here's a look from SB Nation's CelticsBlog on which pairs should be Brad Stevens' favorite so far this season:
The Celtics slaughter their opposition on both ends when Olynyk and Jerebko are on the floor, but that's a small sample size that probably wouldn't sustain itself against top-line competition throughout an entire season.
All in all, Stevens has his fair share of options.
Four of the five best scoring lineups all involve Jerebko; the two best involve Kelly Olynyk. Combine, Olynyk and Jerebko make up the best frontcourt pairing on the Celtics, dominating in their 33 minutes with a plus-72.3 Net Rating. The Sullinger-Olynyk pairing was potent last season and early returns are promising. But, surprisingly, they've played only 15 minutes together. Though they've faced bench units more often than starting units, the offensive success of the Jerebko lineups and Sullinger-Olynyk pair is likely a product of their shooting and spacing.
