Which free agents should the Sixers keep?
The Philadelphia 76ers will enter the summer with several free agents on their cap sheet that they can either re-sign or move on from. For some of them, the answer as to which move they should make is obvious. For others, not so much.
Bleacher Report's Zachary Arthur takes a look at several of Philly's free agents to try and figure out if the team should keep them or cut them, including forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute:
"His defensive value as an undersized power forward has to be looked at as an added bonus. He uses his speed and quickness to create interesting mismatches with his 6'8" height on both ends of the floor. Mbah a Moute might not do enough on the court to completely warrant a new deal; however, he brings a valuable relationship to the table that absolutely does. Keeping Mbah a Moute in Philadelphia is a way of investing in Embiid's future. It's something the Sixers must do."
This is a unique situation. Philadelphia is tied to Mbah a Moute, a forward who can't really shoot and doesn't fit in with their timeline at all. He's better served toiling away as a defensive stopper on a competitive team.
But his relationship with Embiid is important. It'll be interesting to see how much the Sixers think the mentorship is worth.
