Thunder dropped their first game in December

“The game wasn’t over. Ariza made two foul shots with 5.8 seconds left, pushing the lead to three. The Thunder had one more chance after a timeout, but Westbrook was denied the inbounds pass. Anthony Morrow missed a 3.”

There is no reason to be upset with last night’s loss. Yes, they played terrible after having three days to prepare for the Rockets. And yes, they still had a chance to win at the end of the game. But the Rockets, and Patrick Beverley especially (ugh), played a fantastic defensive game against the Thunder. Houston’s problems are almost primarily on the defensive end, yet they are slowly getting better on that end.

Mark Cuban says Russell Westbrook isn’t a superstar

More from Thunderous Intentions

“Cuban said in April, about an hour before Westbrook’s 36-point, 12-rebound, nine-assist performance in Game 5 of the first round to eliminate the Mavs, that a true superstar can carry a mediocre roster to 50 wins and a postseason series win. He noted that the Thunder failed to make the playoffs in 2014-15, when Kevin Durant missed most of the season because of a foot injury.”

First thing first, I agree with Cuban’s definition of a superstar. We throw around the term “superstar” way too much and that should stop. And I respect Cuban for sticking to his guns on this. This story is making a lot of headlines, but when you read into it more he gives Russ praise. The Thunder are on pace for 50 wins and to get a 4-6 seed, so Russ can still prove Cuban wrong at the end of the season.

Russ doesn’t play for the stats

This is for all those who think Russ plays to get stats. Watch how as soon as the triple-double is mentioned Russ immediately puts his mouth in his turtleneck (great choice btw). This man is getting triple-doubles because he’s trying to win basketball games, not go down in the record books.
