Utah waives Elijah Millsap -- could he join his brother on the Hawks?
As the Jazz approached the guaranteed-contract deadline, Utah waived guard Elijah Millsap. Is there any chance he joins his brother Paul Millsap on the Hawks?
Millsap signed his first 10-day contract with the Jazz on January 5, 2015. Exactly one year later, Millsap was informed of his release. The 28-year-old guard, the younger brother of Atlanta's star big man, signed a three-year non-guaranteed deal last season. Elijah averaged 4.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and a little less than one steal during 67 games with Utah.
Thank You Jazz organization for the opportunity. Really appreciate my teammates and all the Jazz fans for your love &support #AlltheBest

"Thank You Jazz organization for the opportunity. Really appreciate my teammates and all the Jazz fans for your love &support," tweeted Elijah.
Millsap has had experience on training camp rosters with the Thunder, Lakers and Bucks. He also played in the D-League with the Bakersfield Jam. Now a free agent, could the Hawks be the next team to target Millsap?
Many expect Millsap to earn another NBA contract. Active guards on Atlanta's roster include Jeff Teague, Dennis Schroder, Lamar Patterson, Shelvin Mack, Kyle Korver, Justin Holiday, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kent Bazemore. While it'd be tough to snag minutes from that core, he could potentially fill a role similar to the one given to Hardaway Jr.
It's not unprecedented to have brothers in the NBA. Look at Chicago's Pau Gasol, whose younger brother Marc Gasol is one of the league's finer big men. It's quite a bit more unusual to see brothers play for the same team, though the Suns had twins Markieff and Marcus Morris on the same roster while also carrying Goran and Zoran Dragic.
Other sets of brothers in the NBA include last season's MVP Stephen Curry and his younger brother Seth as well as Mason and Miles Plumlee.
