Thursday is going to be a busy day, what with Game 7 of the NBA Finals going on and all. But that doesn’t mean we should so quickly dismiss how great of a day Wednesday was.

On the ice, the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks played a shootout for the ages in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, with the 'Hawks tying the series at 2-2 after a 6-5 overtime win. (Unfortunately, if you were watching in Austin, Texas, you probably missed the end).

Elsewhere in the basketball universe, the LA Clippers and Boston Celtics started talking again after they had previously stopped talking about a mega-trade that would send Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles, and Kendrick Perkins sold his bulldog on Twitter.

We paid tribute to the late James Gandolfini, an A-list sports fan who sadly passed at the age of 51 on Wednesday, Bruce Arians offered his thoughts on gay athletes in sports and the Aaron Hernandez news just keeps getting weirder.

As for the rest of the news, here’s what you may have missed:

• Kate Upton appeared to diss alleged ex-BF Justin Verlander on Twitter (deleted the tweet):

• You can own a rare ring from the controversial 1919 World Series, if you're willing to fork over a fortune for it at auction. (The current high bid is at $33,275).

• The Jacksonville Jaguars will be installing the NFL's largest scoreboards at the expense of 7,000 seats. Fortunately, nobody was sitting in them anyway.

• Indianapolis Colts cheerleaders do a photoshoot — in Michigan?

• Chris Bosh does not care for the Miami Heat fans who left Game 6 early:
