#TBT: Pacers coach Vogel was on David Letterman in 1986
Frank Vogel is good at pulling off complicated tricks. With a roster full of almost countless injuries and declining veteran talent, the Indiana Pacers head coach kept his men on a strong enough system all season to almost crack the 2015 NBA Playoffs.
Ultimately, the Pacers simply didn't have the horses. But the impressive showing from the team, under terrible circumstances, helped Vogel develop a reputation as one of the game's preeminent wizards of strategy and discipline.
19 years ago, he did a very different kind of trick. On the late night show of recently retired TV legend David Letterman, a much younger Vogel partook in the infamous "stupid human tricks" segment, and brushed his teeth while spinning a basketball on the toothbrush:
