Throughout his career, Rudy Gay has been a player that could score in various ways. You can see a sample size of his talents in the highlight video listed below.

Also, Gay’s shooting chart that goes all the way back to his 2010-2011 season shows how versatile he is in scoring the ball. But where are the best spots for the 6’8″ specimen to shine?

Based on the chart listed above, Gay’s sweet spots seems to be in the paint and in the midrange areas of the court. When shooting from midrange, Gay has recorded field-goal percentages of 39.8 and 41.7. When Gay is attempting to score in the paint, he has a success rate of 61.3%.

Now it’s time to focus on the popular three-point shot, where Gay has also shown success as well. The data shows that Gay’s most effective spot beyond the arc is the left baseline, where he is posting a percentage of 37.1. In the other locations, he is subpar, recording percentages of 31.6 and 34.6.

Summary

Overall, Gay is a player that can score in different ways, but he is at his most effective when he is driving to the paint or shooting from midrange.

The Kings signed Gay two seasons back to be a second scoring option for the franchise going forward, and for the most part, he has done just that. But if Rudy wants to remain efficient in that same role this season, he must look to shoot closer to the basket.
