Sixers will reportedly face Lakers in L.A. on New Year's Day

The NBA will release its schedule for the 2015-16 season in the next week or two, but some of the more intriguing matchups are already making the rounds.

Opening night and Christmas Day are the dates which hold the most interest, and the rebuilding Sixers have little chance of being invited to play on any of the league's marquee nights. But they will be playing on at least one holiday this season.

The Sixers will face the Lakers in L.A. on New Year's Day, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times.

New Year's isn't an important date on the NBA calendar, but if nothing else, fans in Philly can look forward to a matchup with the Lakers before heading out for the evening's festivities.
