Should Boston trade Avery Bradley for Danilo Gallinari?
Yesterday, news broke that the Boston Celtics had approached the Denver Nuggets about trading for Danilo Gallinari.
This made sense on a number of levels, but one question was left unanswered: What would Boston be willing to offer for a player who can enter unrestricted free agency next summer?
Bleacher Report's Brian Robb proposes five possible deals right here, with one of them revolving around Avery Bradley:
"At the age of 24, Bradley is entering his prime, and he's under contract for three more seasons for just over $8 million per year. Bradley’s offensive game is up and down, as he relies on too many mid-range jumpers, but there’s no denying his defensive value. For a rebuilding Denver team, he could prove to be a valuable core piece in the backcourt for new head coach Mike Malone."
It's tough to picture the Celtics giving up more than they have to in order to acquire an expiring contract. But Bradley may be as far as they'd go.
The Celtics have so many guards, and while Bradley's contract is a bargain, it's still money on the books at a time when Boston is trying to preserve as much financial flexibility as they can.
Still, be very surprised if this deal goes down.
