Report: San Antonio is optimistic Manu Ginobili will play one more year

The San Antonio Spurs are having a perfect summer. They re-signed most of their key free agents (notably Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green), signed All-NBA superstar LaMarcus Aldridge and will bring back Tim Duncan.

All that's left is for Manu Ginobili to hold off retirement for one more year, and everything will be gravy. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Spurs could have even more good news on the horizon:

"Sources say the Spurs remain quietly optimistic that Ginobili will ultimately opt for one more season. The 37-year-old Ginobili has pondered retirement since San Antonio's season ended with a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 of the Western Conference first round."

The Spurs lost free agent guard Marco Belinelli to the Sacramento Kings, giving them a real need for depth on the wing. Ginobili can solve that problem.

He didn't have the greatest postseason performance in San Antonio's first-round loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, but his veteran experience could prove valuable next year, with the Spurs set to make another run at the championship.
