Report: Rudy Gay to exercise $19.3 million contract option

Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay will be exercising his $19.3 million contract option for the upcoming season, according to FOX Sports 1/Yahoo NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Kings have made it a priority to re-sign Gay, and management is supposed to be meeting with his agent, Alex Saratsis of Octagon, to start talking about negotiations. Gay and the team will be able to reach a four-year extention if they choose to after July 1. According to Wojnarowski's sources, Gay has been very impressed with the direction new owner Vivek Ranadive has the team going in order to contend in a stacked Western Conference.

The Kings consider Gay a big part of their future, and he will have a chance to pay attention to the team's moves in the off-season that will either entice him to sign an extention or become an unrestricted free agent in 2015.

After joining the Kings this year, Gay averaged 20.1 points on 48.2 percent shooting.
