Report: Riley sued over leaky basement
Basketball Hall of Fame coach Pat Riley is being sued for $551,000 for causing damage to his neighbor's basement, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The documents state Riley and his wife Christine overhauled their home in Malibu, Calif., in 2009 with new landscaping, terracing and a new irrigation system.
Shortly after the work was completed, their neighbors began noticing a major leakage problem, causing their basement to flood.
The neighbors claim their own "French drainage" system was damaged as a result of the Rileys' renovations, and are now seeking compensation.
Pat Riley, who currently serves as Miami Heat president, won four NBA championships as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s, and a fifth as coach of the Heat in 2006.
