Report: Raptors' Valanciunas chooses rehab over surgery for broken hand

Just as the Toronto Raptors were getting a healthy version of DeMarre Carroll, injuries have once again taken hold. This time, it's center Jonas Valanciunas, who suffered a broken left hand after a foul by Kobe Bryant on Friday.

According to a report by Yahoo! Sports, Valanciunas is expected to miss six weeks after opting to rehabilitate the injury rather than undergo surgery:

Valanciunas is averaging a career-high 12.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game this season. Prior to Sunday's games, he was tied for fourth for offensive rebounds with 42 and seventh in total rebounds (130).

Valanciunas suffered the injury in the fourth metacarpal in his non-shooting hand during Friday’s win against the Los Angeles Lakers. The 7-footer opted to rehab his hand instead of having surgery.
