Report: Lakers do not plan to discipline Nick Young for dangerous fireworks incident

Nick Young escaped injury during his fireworks stunt on the Fourth of July, and it looks like he's also avoided any discipline from the Lakers.

According to the LA Daily News, the Lakers are not planning to discipline the veteran guard after he was filmed holding a lit firework over his head that went off during a July 4th party, nearly hitting his face.

"You would hope that things like that don't happen," Lakers coach Luke Walton told the outlet after summer league practice Tuesday. "Professional athletes kind of need their hands. But I'm glad he's OK."

The Fourth of July incident just adds to a tumultuous offseason for Young. His engagement to pop star Iggy Azalea ended last month after she accused him of not being faithful.

Young, who averaged 7.3 points last season in Los Angeles, has two years remaining on his current contract.
