Report: Ex-NBA player steals car from valet, takes 6-hour 'joy ride'

A pro basketball player finding himself out of the NBA by age 29 is tough. Making bad decisions can make that life change even tougher. Such seems to be the case for UConn alum and former NBA journeyman Jeff Adrien, who reportedly went on an alleged six-hour joy ride with a car that, of course, wasn't his.

From the TMZ report:

Adrien played for the Warriors, Rockets, Bobcats, Bucks and Timberwolves from 2010 to 2015. He signed with the Pelicans this summer, but the team waived him during the preseason. Though he did find some playing time on a struggling Milwaukee team a couple of years ago, he has struggled to stick in the league. Unfortunately for him, reports like this won't help.

Law enforcement tells us Adrien -- who played with the Minnesota Timberwolves last year -- was waiting outside of a popular West Hollywood hotel where he was staying when he saw a guy valet a pretty sick Mercedes.

We're told Adrien somehow got the keys to the Mercedes (even though he didn't have a claim ticket) -- and peeled off with the car.

One source tells us Adrien went on a 6 hour joyride before RETURNING IT back at the hotel.

Someone figured out what happened and informed the owner -- and Adrien was later arrested by LAPD for grand theft auto and taken to jail! He was later released on $25k bail.

The person who owns the car says Adrien not only damaged the ride -- but his car REEKED of weed.
