Report: David Blatt 'one of the main candidates' for Nets coaching job

David Blatt has been teamless for less than a week, but he's already getting some buzz around his name.
The Cavaliers ousted Blatt on Friday in a surprise firing. The defending Eastern Conference champs were sitting at 30-11 at the time of the firing, good enough for first in the East by a bunch. Now, Blatt is without a basketball home. But that might not be for long.
Via NetsDaily:
TASS, the big Russian news agency that predicted Lionel Hollins firing a month before it happened, reports Monday that David Blatt, the ousted Cavaliers coach, is "one of the main candidates" for the Nets head coaching job. The Nets are not expected to move on head coaching candidates until after a new general manager is chosen.
"Brooklyn [Nets] is currently considering several candidacies for the post of the club’s head coach and Blatt’s candidacy is the priority one," the source said in an interview with TASS. The source was described as "familiar with the matter."
There are some natural ties here beyond the fact that Blatt has an 83-40 career record. He was also the coach of the Russian National Team before coming to Cleveland, and it's certainly possible that sits well with the Nets' Russian ownership group.
Still, there is plenty of time before a coaching move has to be made for the Nets, who don't even have a general manager at the moment. Brooklyn fired former coach Lionel Hollins and reassigned general manager Billy King within the organization earlier this month.
