NEW ORLEANS (AP) Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans has been ruled out for New Orleans' matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies, marking the third straight game he has missed because of right knee tendinitis.
Earlier Monday, coach Alvin Gentry predicted Evans was ''probably not going to play,'' even as he stressed Evans probably was capable of playing through the pain.
Gentry says it simply makes more sense at this point of the season to give Evans more rest. Gentry says the same pain level would not have sidelined Evans from a playoff game.
Evans is New Orleans' third leading scorer, averaging 15.2 points to go with 6.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game.
