Pelican Debrief Podcast: Talking New Orleans Pelicans and Indiana Pacers with Ian Levy

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

To kick off our Young Rivals miniseries on the Pelican Debrief podcast, we brought in FanSided Senior NBA Editor Ian Levy to discuss the connections between the New Orleans Pelicans and Indiana Pacers.

The New Orleans Pelicans hope to rejoin the conversation about the league’s premier young squads with a return to form this season. If they do that, a team they’ll join the company of is the Indiana Pacers, who are hoping to develop their own exciting big man Myles Turner next to franchise cornerstone Paul George.

The connections between the Pels and Pacers don’t end with the franchises’ big man battles though. The Pelicans biggest offseason get was former Pacers’ swingman Solomon Hill, who played for the team for three years before rising to prominence in an increased role during last season’s stretch run and playoff battle. Hill is an under-the-radar player for most NBA fans, but a big part of the lives of these two fanbases.

A bucket of graciousness to Ian Levy (@HickoryHigh) for joining host and Co-Editor Brendon Kleen (@BrendonKleen14) to kick around ideas and opinions about his team. The pair discussed Turner, Hill, Buddy Hield, Anthony Davis, and both teams as a whole. Be sure to check out Levy’s offseason reviews of both the Pellies and the Pacers at the FanSided main site.

After the Young Rivals miniseries, we’ll be returning to Pelican Debrief writer participation in the podcast, but we’re always happy to answer audience questions if you all send them in! The Pelicans play their two final preseason games away from New Orleans, but get to stay in the Southeast against the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic before returning home to open the regular season on October 26th against the Denver Nuggets.
