Mark Cuban offering free heart exams for former Mavericks
After the deaths of Moses Malone and Daryl Dawkins, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is being proactive when it comes to the well-being of his former players.
Cuban has always been on the forefront of changes to better improve the game, but now he's looking to help those who already retired and out of the league.
Although this should probably be something that the league and players union agree to do for all players, Cuban is taking care of former Mavericks that want a free heart exam on his dime, according to an official release on Mavs.com:
Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban announced today that the Mavericks are offering free heart health exams to every Mavericks player over the age of 50 that played two seasons or more with the organization.
“We have had several tragedies in the NBA family recently with the passing of several legends at a young age,” Cuban said. “The Mavs want to be proactive to inform and educate our alumni about potential health concerns they may face as they age. To this end, we will be paying for advanced screening for heart disease for our former Mavs over the age of 50.”
