Mallory Edens shoots down writer for 'trophy GF' comment
The NBA Draft lottery can be a strange place. A lot of fanfare and emotional momentum rides on the fateful bouncing of ping pong balls in a little wind bubble. Everybody is dressed to the nines; nobody is there to actually play any sports.
Last year, the event took on another layer of weirdness when two owners, from the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings, sent their young daughters to the podium to represent their respective franchises. Mallory Edens, kin of Wes Edens, the Bucks' co-owner, became a viral sensation for a hot minute.
This year, the league put a lid on that sort of thing. Only people with direct employment with the team were allowed to show up as symbols for their organizations. One NBA writer, Chris Sheridan, didn't love the revision. On his site, Sheridan Hoops, he bemoaned the lack of eye candy during the lottery, referring to Edens at one point as a "[future] trophy GF."
. @sheridanhoops so just for clarity, common thread that underwrites "trophy" wife, daughter, and "GF" is women = possessions, right?

Yikes.
Edens fired back:
Good for you, Mallory.
