LeBron on Carmelo: 'He's excited about what's going on' with Knicks

LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony have been close friends for years now. Wednesday night, their two teams face off.

At the start of the year, it seemed like an absolute guarantee: The Cavs would wax the floor with the Knicks, who were coming off a 17-win season. Even though New York actually beat Cleveland in its opener last season, there just seemed like no way. But the Knicks have been better than many expected, racking up a 2-2 record and putting up competitive performances against the Hawks and Spurs in their two losses.

Now, the day of the big game, LeBron says his good friend, Carmelo, is excited about what's going on with the Knicks.

From Marc Berman of the New York Post:

The Knicks added some big pieces this summer and are playing like a team vying for a No. 8 seed.

That seems like ages ago and now Anthony brings in a completely new team and a surgically repaired left knee. James claimed at the Cavaliers practice facility Wednesday morning Anthony is “excited’’ about Knicks president Phil Jackson’s changes.

“I think they’ve tried to get better, for sure, in the offseason (with) bringing in some pieces that can help them,’’ James said. “First of all, the most important thing is that he’s back on the floor and he’s healthy. I know he’s happy about that and just having the opportunity to go out and play again and play for that franchise. So, he’s excited about what’s going on right now.’’

“We talk about everything,’’ James added. “It’s him, myself, D-Wade (Dwyane Wade) and CP (Chris Paul). We have a brotherhood. We talk about everything. Basketball is one of those things.’’
